Frequently asked questions

More people than ever are looking for ways to get whiter teeth, and with so many teeth whitening options the decision on which brand to choose is harder than ever.

That’s exactly why White Label Lab has created these teeth whitening FAQ, to help you understand how to go about choosing cost effective and safe products that really work.

Our key whitening agent Sodium Percarbonate has been formulated by industry renowned dentist Dr Martin Giniger to effectively whiten teeth without sensitivity or harm to oral health. The formulations are free from ingredients carbamide peroxide, PEG, Phthalates, Carrageenan, Toluene, and Triclosan known to adversely impact the health of your teeth and gums.

Permanent tooth damage can be caused as a result of harmful ingredients used in some competitor home whitening products but not our Teeth Whitening Kits. Hydrogen Peroxide is the most frequent cause of unwanted side effects and is the main whitening agent in many forms of teeth whitening. Some products like Crest strips (made by Colgate), are not allowed to be sold in the UK due to the high levels of hydrogen peroxide found in them.

Research has shown that safety is one of the top concerns when it comes to daily teeth whitening, which is why we’ve ensured that our products do not include harmful ingredients you may see in other daily teeth whitening products such as carbamide peroxide. Even so, you might still ask yourself, should you whiten your teeth everyday? If you use our daily teeth whitening products, the answer is yes, you can safely whiten teeth everyday.

Not only do our daily teeth whitening products avoid harsh abrasive chemicals, but our range also includes natural agents such as charcoal, known to result in natural whitening of the teeth. Oral hygiene products in the UK subscribe to stricter standards than other parts of the world like the US. For example, Hydrogen peroxide can be used in concentrations as high as 6% overseas, but here in the UK oral hygiene products must not contain more than 0.1% Hydrogen Peroxide. This ensures that the whitening effects of daily whitening products do not affect your health and are 100% safe to use every day.

The key active whitening ingredient Sodium Percarbonate creates the chemical degradation of stains through oxidisation to produce a whitening effect. It does this by diffusing through enamel and dentine, breaking double bonds of pigment molecules and changing the pigment molecule configuration and/or size. Such changes alter the optical properties of tooth structure, creating a whiter tooth colour.

The enamel is not damaged during the whitening process. Therefore, the tooth can continue to protect the nerve whilst being effectively whitened with no sensitivity.

Our unique 2-step process of pre-treating the stains with stain removal to prepare teeth for the step 2 whitening is clinically proven to target deep set stains and whiten teeth by up to 8 shades. The process is so effective at removing surface staining that you’ll likely never want to return to more expensive options to professionally whiten your teeth.

Dr Martin Giniger has used over 40 years of research to identify the optimal formulation to safely and effectively whiten teeth without any unwanted side-effects. Yes, hydrogen peroxide is extremely effective in teeth whitening. However, many countries have deemed this as harmful for individual use and have banned teeth whitening products containing peroxide levels over 0.1%. Our key whitening ingredient, sodium percarbonate, has been proven to have effective teeth whitening properties comparable to hydrogen peroxide without damaging the tooth or causing sensitivity.

Sodium percarbonate is an eco-friendly chemical which decomposes into oxygen, water and natural soda ash when it makes contact with water making it biodegradable and septic safe, it contains no phosphorus or nitrogen.

We have all the correct CPSRs (Safety Assessments) in place for both our private label formulations.

Once you’ve purchased a product or products, just email us at info@whitelabellab.uk and let us know which products you would like a copy of the safety assessment for.

No, it doesn’t work like that unfortunately. You can use the safety assessments we have, but these are valid for our finished products only. If you wanted to actually make the products yourself, whether or not it’s using our supplies, you would need your own assessment.

You need to create a PIF (Product Information File) and include our assessment within this file. You also need to notify the product on the relevant Portal and make sure your labelling is correct.

You are the RP for this product so you will need to create the PIF and notify it on the UK Portal. You can access the UK Portal via the following link: Submit a cosmetic product notification – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

No, as you are the RP (Responsible Person), you put your own name and address on the label.

You do – see above.

Some of these products are currently only assessed to be sold on the UK market. For EU and USA customers wishing to take advantage of the pre-written safety reports, a small additional fee may be payable for the appropriate add-on documentation. This can be obtained by emailing the team at info@whitelabellab.uk.
